Associate Pastor

Overall description

- Serve alongside the lead pastor in preaching/teaching, discipleship, leadership training, and pastoral care.

- Serve as part of the Executive board, comprised of Elders and ministry staff

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Help move people from being casual attenders to fully devoted followers of Jesus who are connected to Church on the Sound; who regularly serve, give and actively participate in the mission and vision of the church.

Discipleship

- Oversee courses currently offered for the spiritual growth and assimilation of those who attend the congregation.

- Assist people in discovering their God-given gifts and abilities; connecting them with opportunities to serve

- Train leaders to assist in teaching adult classes

Preaching

- Work with the lead pastor to design Sunday morning worship services

- Function as part of a preaching team that will prayerfully consider message topics and

series.

Pastoral Care

- Oversee the connection and assimilation of those who attend, with the goal of full involvement in the church community.

- Be available to perform weddings and funerals.

- Oversee the care ministry team and be available to visit those in the hospital.

- Offer short-term spiritual guidance and direction to those in need.

- A relational leader that can attract others into their next steps as a disciple of Christ

- Experience in recruiting, equipping, and releasing people into ministry

- A strategic leader with experience in implementing strategy and systems

- A team builder who can inspire and motivate others

- Highly collaborative and flexible

- A trainer/delegator

Education

- Bachelor’s Degree preferably from a Christian college or university

- Seminary/Graduate Degree is preferred

Salary

- Starting salary is $75,000 plus benefits

Hours & Benefits

- The Associate Pastor is a full time position. Should the candidate be able to start as part time, salary would be adjusted. Benefits offered include health insurance, paid time off and holidays. Retirement savings offered after serving 3 years.

Fellowship of Authority

Church on the Sound is an elder-led congregation, overseen by a Board of Trustees. The Associate Pastor will function under the direct authority of the lead Pastor and under the overall authority of the elders and trustees.
